Frankenberg (Eder) is delighted to host Europeade 2019. The event runs from 17 to 21 July 2019, and it will be the second time that the town is hosting Europeade following an earlier edition in 1994.
Our cheerful, romantic town is situated in the middle of the forested Eder Uplands, directly on the German Fairy Tale Route and the Eder River. As we are at the heart of Europe and in the centre of Germany, you can reach us easily from any direction – Frankfurt am Main with its international airport is only around 90 minutes away, for example.
The historic old quarter with its half-timbered houses – many centuries old and in excellent condition – is a characteristic feature of our family-friendly town. The splendid town hall in the centre, dating from 1509, is the landmark of Frankenberg (Eder), and the distinctive silhouette of this building can be found in the 2019 Europeade logo.
With numerous shops, restaurants and cafés, the modern pedestrian zone allows people to stroll around and buy various items at their leisure. The town has a contemporary spirit, exuding hospitality, diversity and a joy of life. In addition to the town itself, visitors are inspired by the surroundings of Frankenberg. The beautiful landscape harbours attractive destinations for day trips, such as the nearby Kellerwald-Edersee National Park, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. We also have a swimming pool, several playgrounds and an animal park with local species. Frankenberg (Eder) leaves nothing to be desired – even for younger generations. Experience the family-friendly town of Frankenberg (Eder) and its surroundings, which offer a variety of sights and activities.
With almost 20,000 inhabitants, our town is one of the smaller hosts of the Europeade festival. However, this has important advantages for participants as well as visitors: distances are short, and Europeade makes the whole town a truly vibrant place. We look forward to seeing you again at Europeade in Frankenberg (Eder) from 17 to 21 July 2019!
